Hot Spring Gold
Hot Spring Gold is a 5yo gelding by the all conquering Written Tycoon from the 5x winning mare Graphic. He has won three races for The Queensland Rogues with career prize money of $297,000. Chris Munce and the bloodstock team at TRL sense the biggest payday is ahead for HSG and his owners the Queensland Rogues. After completely destroying his opposition on a number of occasions last preparation, HSG’s trainer Chris Munce has his eyes on some exciting feature races over the Queensland carnival. These replays should give you a taste of what it is like to have a horse who’s racing style is to mow them down late in your stable. It is quite a buzz-owning Hot Spring Gold. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6e07qzsEIn8
The Big Goodbye
The Big Goodbye is the first ready to race horse for Queensland and is being trained by Robert Heathcote. The Big Goodbye he has had 10 starts for 3 wins and 6 placings in his racing career so far, winning just over $94,000 to date. He was on our ready to run list because he has been showing improving sprinting sectionals, something the Form Team have been watching closely. The Big Goodbye is sired by Host, the Sire of a well known sprinter currently wowing crowds, Eduardo. With 2 wins already to his name in South Australia, the Rogues are excited to have this guy on their team!
Maroon Magic (I Am Invincible x Unequivocal)
I Am Invincible was an exceptional sprinter, having five wins at 1000 & 1100 metres and winning $270,050 in prizemoney. These included the Group III SAJC DC McKay Stakes, Listed MRC Sir John Monash Stakes and second to Takeover Target in the Group I SAJC Goodwood Handicap.
There is no denying that I Am Invincible is most notable for his success as a stallion, having sired more than 60 individual stakes winners. His progeny include the likes of Viddora, Loving Gaby, Brazen Beau and Voodoo Lad, all winners of numerous Gr. 1 races. He stands for a whopping service fee of $209,000, the most expensive stallion in Australia. The QLD Rogues will have a lot of fun with this impressively bred filly.
Larrikin Rogue (Flying Artie x Laylia)
By sire Flying Artie – Australia’s highest rated 3YO sprinter in 2016/17. An Exceptional Juvenile, Flying Artie won the G3 Blue Diamond Prelude defeating Star Turn, ran a tremendous Blue Diamond running 2nd to Extreme Choice, and ran 3rd in the G1 Golden Slipper. He won the Group 1 Stallion-Making Coolmore Stakes defeating the likes of Extreme Choice, Astern, Star Turn, and Russian Revolution.
He is the sire of Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes Winner Artorius, and is already the sire of 5 Australian Fire Crop Winners to Date.
Helluva Barty (Hellbent x Queen Of Kandy)
Sire Hellbent had four starts in Gr1’s never worse than fourth, and his form was impeccable in every G1 he contested. He was a winner of 7 races and won more than $900,000 in prizemoney, including the 2018 G1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) in near record time; second in the 2017 G1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) and third in the G1 Oakleigh Plate to Russian Revolution.
In-bred 3×3 to Green Desert, Hellbent is I Am Invincible’s fourth G1 winner and 29th Stakes winner and is out of Volksraad mare Volkaspray who is from the family of 1963 Golden Slipper winner Pago Pago. We can’t wait to see what this colt can do on the track.
Greylander (Fastnet Rock x Alice Island)
Everyone has always wanted to own a superbly bred Grey. This beauty of a Colt was one of the most talked about Yearlings leading into the draft, and the QLD Rogues were thrilled to secure him on their team. His sire Fastnet Rock was a 2 x Gr.1, Gr.2 and Gr.3 winner as a 3YO, and has now sired over 40 individual Group 1 winners.
A legend both on and off the track, Fastnet Rock continues to impress all in the industry with the types he produces, and this grey looks a champion in the making.

Caxton Lass (Capitalist x Our Pride & Joy)
Most Queenslanders have had a beer at the Caxton Hotel, and the joint will erupt when Caxton Lass hits the track in the QLD Rogues silks. By Golden Slipper winning sire Capitalist, from a 4-time winning mare in Our Pride And Joy, this young lady is a “racey filly” according to Shannon Betts, manager of Emeran Park. She was a stand-out filly at the Inglis Sales, who has taken time to grow in the paddock and has now furnished to have “everything in the right places” according to Shannon. Caxton Lass will be trained by Rob Heathcote, who’ll be more than happy to have a cold frosty xxxx at the Caxton when she salutes.

Zousain x Fancy Liquor
The QLD Rogues have every reason to be excited to have partnered with Chris Munce in securing Lot 857 Zousain x Fancy Liquor filly. She’s a filly that caught the eye of the TRL Bloodstock team and the Chris Munce stable, so it made perfect sense to buy in partnership. “There’s a lot to like about her, she has a strong shoulder and a good hip, she ticks a lot of boxes”, Shannon Betts from Emeran Park said. Zousain is the best and fastest son of champion sire Zoustar and this filly is compact and a ball of muscle. Zousain had a stellar career during which he ran second in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes and was also runner up in the Group 1 Golden Rose.

Rubick x Testy Sue
Lot 190 for $190,000 from the Inglis Premier Sale maybe that will come into the naming of this colt. TRL Head of Bloodstock Mick Malone was taken with the colt who looks to inherited plenty of his dad’s athleticism with Rubick being the sire of Yes Yes Yes, the Everest winner along with Golden Rose winning colt Jacquinot. The Group 1 winning training combination of O’Dea and Hoysted has had plenty of success with Rubick’s progeny including a horse called Contemptuous which is a Stakes winner and Group 3 second placegetter.

QLD ROGUES TRAINERS
QLD Rogues trainers are ready to take on all “those trainers from down South”! Just because the Rogues live in the sunshine, doesn’t mean it’s beach time. Every one of the QLD Rogues trainers would love to show those southerners just what a tough bred QLD trainer can do.

Chris Anderson
Chris Anderson wasn’t born into the racing game but he has certainly made up for the lost time. A one time successful publican & executive in the liquor game, he cast that career aside to follow his passion.
Chris’s bold move to try his hand at training, again showed his tenacity, and dedication. His late entrance into the training industry, has given him the advantage of having no preconceived ideas, or outdated family habits to shake, allowing him to focus on developing more modern, and effective training techniques.

Chris Munce
There was hardly a major race Chris Munce didn’t win as a jockey. Boasting a long list of honours, Chris’ main achievements included an overall of 42 Group 1 wins culminating in the ‘Big Four’ – Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate, Golden Slipper and Caulfield Cup.
As a trainer, Chris is now developing his Eagle Farm based stable with quality youngsters and he has already tasted feature-race success with the likes of Boomsara ($2M Magic Millions 3YO Guineas Winner) and Ours To Keep (first Group winner), as well as having had three starters in the $2M Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted
The powerful training combination of Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted are latecomers to the QLD Rogues. The pair came into the team with original owner’s selection Michael Costa leaving Queensland to take up a position in Dubai. O’Dea and Hoysted were recommended by Costa and the Rogues were more than happy to have them in charge of Helluva Barty. Matt is from a famous Australian racing family and learnt his trade through some big stables, including the Lloyd Williams yard in Victoria. Steve initially was studying Economics at University, but being a son of a famous North Queensland trainer in Graham, he gave Uni away and went into racing. O’Dea and Hoysted not only very “hands on” trainers but also great communicators which is much appreciated by Rogues owners.

Robert Heathcote
As a young man Rob travelled the world in the tourism industry, then he conquered the world with his all star sprinter Buffering beating the best in Dubai. There’s been the multiple Brisbane and Queensland training premierships, over a thousand winners, and the Group 1 glories.
Rob believes that owners are the most important people in racing, some he has had from the first year he started training, which is a true testament to his great communication and his very approachable personality that makes owners feel like part of the ‘racing family’.

Toby & Trent Edmonds
Toby Edmonds relocated from Warwick Farm to the Gold Coast not for the sun or the surf, but for an opportunity, setting up his own stable in 2011 and he has never looked back. There’s been Magic Millions success with Houtzen, and now the entire family are entrenched at the state of the art stable with an official training partnership between Toby and son Trent.
The stable consistently has winning strikeouts which are industry leading and in season 2018 Toby trained 106.5 winners at a strike rate of 21.7% which placed the stable in the top 3 Nationally in terms of winning strike rate. This cemented him as not only one of Queensland’s, but one of Australia’s leading thoroughbred trainers.

Tony Gollan
Champion trainer Tony Gollan was more than a promising rugby league player. He represented Queensland in the Under 19s and had aspirations of being a Brisbane Bronco. However it was his undying love of the horse that saw him take up horse training full time.
Tony Gollan has achieved the feat of winning the Metropolitan Queensland Trainers’ Premiership for 5 seasons in a row and currently holds the record of Metro wins breaking his own record in the 2017/18 season previously set in 2015/16. He has numerous Group 1 wins to his name and continues to dominate the ranks in QLD.
QLD ROGUES AMBASSADOR
As a former trackwork jockey for the Gai Waterhouse, Billy Slater is supremely qualified to lead (but not ride for) the Rogues and his beloved Queensland. He played a remarkable 31 State of Origins, won The Dally M, 2 premierships, captained his “Mighty Maroons” and, for good measure was also voted the best player in the world in 2008. Continuing his lifetime passion for the sport, Billy and his wife Nicole (who met at Pony Club) have now formed Slater Thoroughbreds.
