Shane Crawford

AFL Premiership winner, and Brownlow medallist Shane Crawford has always had a deep passion for the racing industry.

In fact, the 300 game Hawthorn star actually worked in the Freedman stable during their “golden period” when the stable boasted the likes of three time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva.

Shane played a huge part of the success of the AFL Footy Show for over a decade so hold on for a fun ride. Arguably one of the greatest midfielders of all time, “Crawf’s” hard at the ball attitude will ensure the Husslers from Victoria are beyond competitive.

Laurie Daley

If there’s one thing Laurie Daley loves more than cheering on his Canberra Raiders, it’s kicking home a winner on the racetrack. “Loz” is New South Wales to the core, and as well as three premierships he is one of only two men to play, captain and coach the Blues to a series win.

More modest about his remarkable achievements on the rugby league field, Laurie will proudly tell you of his long celebrations when his horse won a feature race over the Flemington Spring carnival.

A great team man, a natural born leader, the New South Wales Tycoons will be well led by Laurie Daley.

Billy Slater

As a former trackwork jockey for the Gai Waterhouse stable, Billy Slater is supremely qualified to lead (but not ride for) the Rogues and his beloved Queensland.

After losing the weight battle to become a jockey, his second career choice as a rugby league player turned out pretty well. He played a remarkable 31 State of Origins for Queensland, won The Dally M, 2 premierships, captained his “Mighty Maroons” and, for good measure was also voted the best player in the world in 2008.

Continuing his lifetime passion for the sport, Billy and his wife Nicole (who met at Pony Club) have now formed Slater Thoroughbreds.
