Your Team

Our owners third purchase at Magic Millions came from Tyreel Stud by Hellbent x Fimantino. As a half sister to the 2YO Magic Millions winner Shaquero, we had our eye on her from the start as a horse that we wanted in our teams stable.

Sire Hellbent had four starts in Gr1’s never worse than fourth, and his form was impeccable in every G1 he contested. He was a winner of 7 races and won more than $900,000 in prizemoney, including the 2018 G1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) in near record time; second in the 2017 G1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) and third in the G1 Oakleigh Plate to Russian Revolution. Click here to learn more about this horse.

Headwater is the young sire that ticks all the boxes! He’s bred for pure speed being by a Gr.1 Newmarket Hcp winner, out of a Gr.1 Oakleigh Plate winner.

Headwater had early 2yo speed, winning on debut in December of his juvenile year before going on to win the Gr.2 Silver Slipper as a 2yo. He was then one of only a few to go on as a 3yo and defeat older horses at Stakes level inc. subsequent Gr.1 winner The Quarterback when victorious in the Kensington Stakes, a sprint down the Flemington straight. This filly is considered an absolute steal from the Magic Millions sale. Click here to learn more about this horse.

Pierro needs no introduction. He was the unbeaten Triple Crown winner as a 2YO and a dual Gr. 1 winner as a 3YO. Pierro is the highest-rated Australian juvenile since 1977, and was the highest-rated 3YO sprinter in the world in 2013.

Pierro has already proved himself at stud, being a champion first, second and third season sire in Australia. He is already the sire of 7 individual Group 1 winners including Levendi, Pierata and Arcadia Queen. It is no surprise that he currently stands at a service fee of $137,500 at the renowned Coolmore Stud, and how lucky are the NSW Tycoons to have a colt by this super sire. Star Turn was a Powerhouse Sprinter and drew first blood as a Spring 2yo in the Pierro Plate at Randwick before a 2nd to Flying Artie in the Blue Diamond Prelude in the Autumn. His only unplaced runs in a 12 start career were 5th and 6th in Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper respectively.

As a 3yo Star Turn returned for a Spring campaign with a dominant victory over Golden Slipper winner Capitalist in the San Domenico Stakes Gr.3 and was then sent to Melbourne, where he won the WFA Gr.2 Schillaci Stakes against older horses (Malaguerra, Fell Swoop). Our Bloodstock Team thinks this son of Star Turn will be an early runner – click here to learn more about this horse.

The Sherpa is the first tried horse for the NSW Tycoons and is trained by Brett Cavanough in Scone. Click here to learn more about this horse.

Penso A Lei, the daughter of champion stallion So You Think was identified by TRL’s bloodstock team as a horse with plenty of ability along with enormous upside and Joe Pride, a master at training a tried horse agreed with our team. Penso aA Lei has had seven career starts for two wins and a third placing all in just one preparation. Both those wins came over 2000 metres but our bloodstock team and Joe, believe the breed is best over shorter journeys with a mile probably her optimum distance. What Is in a name?

In the harbour city we’re bred to win. But if you wanna stay on top you need to take a punt (gamble responsibly) like they did with current super stallion, Written Tycoon. After a short but successful racing career he went to the paddock to focus on becoming a legend of the breeding world.

Laurie loves racing

One thing Laurie Daley loves more than cheering on his Canberra Raiders, is kicking home a winner. “Loz” is New South Wales to the core. On top of three premierships, he is one of only two men to play, captain and coach the Blues to an Origin series win.

Become an owner

More modest about his remarkable achievements on the rugby league field, Laurie will proudly tell you of his long celebrations when his horse won a feature race over the Flemington Spring carnival.

Your Team’s Manager

The role of the team managers is to coordinate team owners key decision making processes. In doing so on behalf of team owners, managing draft selections, trade windows, selling decisions and trainer programming. Your team manager will liaise with TRL’s Head of Racing who as a form and data specialist will help your team manager in conjunction with their team owners maximise big race day outcomes.

TRL have employed managers on a requirement of possessing deep industry knowledge, experience and connections to trainers within their state as well as being individuals who have that burning competitiveness and desire to win the competition.

Tye Angland

Tye brings The NSW Tycoons a genuine competitive edge. As an 11 time Group 1 winning jockey Tye understands the intricacies of racing at a level not many can match. He has been there and done that on racing’s big stage and knows what it takes to find an edge for his team.

When it comes down to having an ear close to the ground, collecting critical race day intel, this will likely prove a genuine edge for The Tycoons.
