NO OFF SEASON FOR TRL

Dec 2, 2022

Wow, how close did Greylander go to notching another win for the Qld Rogues on Friday at Ipswich?

He was beaten by the narrowest of margins, his inexperience costing him but he hit the line terrifically well with the promise of great times to come.

Luna Rocks has the NSW Tycoons excited after her barrier trial last Monday on the way to Magic Millions Day on the Gold Coast.

While there’s been a change of plans for Bellinger, with the Vic Husslers warhorse now heading to Sandown on December 14.

UPCOMING RUNNERS:

  • Bellinger: Wednesday, Dec 14 – Sandown

Good luck to all Owners and now let’s check out the major chances of your TRL Trainers this Saturday.

LUNA HAS THE FREEDMAN’S EXCITED

The Freedman camp along with NSW Tycoons owners were all extremely positive regarding Luna Rocks’ barrier trial at Hawkesbury on Monday.

“She settled better than we even expected and was powerful through the line exactly what we were hoping for with the ultimate target Magic Millions Day” Will Freedman said.

On Saturday, the stable has two good chances at odds Notions (Race 1) has been smashed in early markets from $9 to $5.

While On The Lead (Race 9) looks over the odds at $16 and will enjoy a firm track.

BET: Notions – Each Way  (Rosehill Race 1)

BET: On The Lead – Each Way  (Rosehill Race 9)

THE SHERPA IS BACK WITH CAV

The Sherpa has settled in well to Brett Cavanough’s Scone stable and is progressing nicely.

At Rosehill, Brett has Sungblue (Race 2) who drops back to Highway grade and is fitter now third-up.

BET: Bellinger – Sungblue  (Rosehill Race 2)

KIM WAUGH LAMENTS SIDENAY’S BAD LUCK

Sidenay is still learning his craft but has been hampered by terrible luck in most of his runs. That was the case again on Wednesday at Gosford, where he was posted wide and flushed out way too early.

At Rosehill, Dimaggio (Race 5) is at the attractive odds of $11, was a good third last start at Wyong and never really got a crack at them.

BET: Dimaggio – Each Way – (Rosehill Race 5)

QUIET BUT COULD BE A WINNING DAY FOR GAI AND ADRIAN

By their standards it’s a relatively quiet day for Gai and Adrian.

The one I’ve singled out at Rosehill is Zoumon, who’s tight in the market but is coming off a big win at the Valley and can win again.

BET: Zoumon – Each Way (Rosehill Race )

GOLLAN IN FOR A MASSIVE DAY

Stock standard 8 runners at Doomben for the all powerful Tony Gollan stable who has no doubt the Qld Rogues have a nice horse on their hands in Greylander.

At Doomben, Tony’s best is Skirt The Law (Race 1) with the best value being All That Pizzaz (Race 6)

BET: Skirt The Law – Win  (Doomben Race 1)

BET: All That Pizzaz – Each Way (Doomben Race 6)

HELLUVA BARTY HEADING TO MAGIC MILLIONS MAIDEN

Qld Rogues owners have every reason to be happy with the news from the O’Dea/Hoysted stable that Helluva Barty is targeting the $250,000 Magic Millions Maiden on January 7.

At Doomben, the stable has two stand-out each way chances Enterprise Pomme (Race 7) just has to overcome barrier 15. While Comtempuous (Race 8) has already been well-backed and won first-up last preparation.

BET: Enterprise Pomme  – Each Way (Doomben Race 7)

BET: Comtemptuous – (Doomben Race 8)

CUMANI LOOKING FOR PAKENHAM CUP SUCCESS

Hard to believe it’s a year ago this weekend since the Vic Husslers traveled to Pakenham to cheer on Team Captain in the Cup.

This year trainer Matt Cumani has Future Score as a $9.50 chance in the Cup. He ran well in the Ballarat Cup and is now third-up and definitely fit enough to win.

BET: Future Score – Each Way (Pakenham Race 7)

MOODY CONFIDENT CAVIAR CAN BOUNCE BACK

Trainer Pete Moody is confident the daughter of his unbeaten champion Black Caviar, Invincible Caviar can bounce back on her home track.

The fifth foal of Black Caviar looked great in beating Blistering but disappointed last start.

Diamonds In The Sky (Race 2) is a $12 chance who’s well drawn and will be hard to beat.

BET: Invincible Caviar –  Each Way (Pakenham Race 3)

BET: Diamonds In The Sky – Each Way (Pakenham Race 2)

CIARON MAHER TO MAKE MARK AT PAKENHAM

Great to see Lethal Thoughts back in pre-training for the Vic Husslers.

At Rosehill, Garza Blanca (Race 3) looks like a good thing.

While at Pakenham, the best value is Pal D’oro (Race 8) who has been well supported in early markets, won impressively last start he just needs Ethan Brown to overcome barrier 10 to be in the finish.

BET: Garza Blanca – Win (Rosehill Race 3)

BET: Pal D’oro – Each Way (Pakenham Race 8)

Good luck and good punting.

NO OFF SEASON FOR TRL

Dec 2, 2022

Cool Jakey was the King of Warwick Farm  on Wednesday and NSW Tycoons owners would like to package the Metropolitan track and just take it wherever Cool Jakey goes after he kept his undefeated record intact.

It’s remarkable that ‘Jakey’, trained on track and stabled across the road with Joe Pride, is one of those athletes, albeit of the equine kind, who thrives on his home ground.

He won on debut at Warwick Farm way back in February of 2023 and the love affair hasn’t ended, Cool Jakey has now won 4 from 4 at ‘The Farm’ and there’s plenty more wins in store for your son of Pierro.

BOUNCE BACK FACTOR

As Tycoons were made aware of, there’s a theory in racing that when a horse suffers from cardiac arrhythmia, “you must back it next start” and they win.

And that was certainly the message after Cool Jakey suffered cardiac arrhythmia the previous start at Randwick, with Joe Pride telling Tycoons in the pre-race late mail, “Don’t worry about what happened last start, the horse is fine and he looks great,” how right Joe was with Cool Jakey leading all the way.

HIPPO FROM BARRIER TO BOX

Adam Hyeronimus was having his first sit on Cool Jakey and he rode him a treat. We joked before the race “just go to the front and improve your position” and that’s exactly what he did.

“He jumped well and found a nice rhythm straight away, he had a nice time so I let him slide early into it at the 600metres so we did go a bit early.

“He felt fantastic throughout the run and was doing it easily, so I did get a bit of a surprise how quickly he stopped.

“So maybe I did go too early, but in saying that, maybe seven furlongs is his upper limit. On that effort he’ll be winning again” Jockey Adam Hyeronimus said.

JOE DELIGHTED

“That was good guys” trainer Joe Pride said, with a big smile to a large contingent of NSW Tycoons on Cool Jakey returning to scale.

“Look it was nice to see him win on a track that wasn’t bottomless wet, it opens up a lot more opportunities for him.

“In saying that if there was a 1400m for him in a fortnight on a Good track I would probably be reluctant to start him. We need to nurse him through it and the next month – six weeks isn’t going to be easy because it’s carnival time.

WHATS NEXT – PACK YOUR BAGS

The Tycoons have been very patient with Cool Jakey and their patience has been rewarded. He is building a very nice career record which stands at only 13 starts for 5 wins and a minor placing and is now pushing the $200,000 in prize money.

‘Jakey’ has initially pulled up well, but we all know that he is a delicate soul and has to be treated with kindness and Joe is reluctant to push him too hard too quickly. Which is fair enough.

“We might even consider travelling him maybe to Melbourne or Brisbane for a wet track, we just need to look after him.

“He’s been a good horse for us, we will look after him and his best opportunities will come in the Winter,” Joe concluded.

Congratulations to all NSW Tycoons and winning connections.

Go you good thing!
