What you need to know about the League
TRL is like leagues you are familiar with a season that runs from the Everest/Caulfield Cup through the to Everest/Caulfield Cup the following year, except in the first year where the season slightly longer and ends Everest/Caulfield Cup 2022.
Each team consists of six horses in the first year, two ready to race horses plus four yearlings. These horses race in the current Australian Racing system and race for points that are allocated based on the type of race. Win a Provincial race and score 20 points, win a metro race and maybe take your team to the top of the table with 35 points.
Your team is selected by a panel of bloodstock experts and commences with six horses in your team – two ready to race horses and four yearlings – which grows to seven horses in the first year as another yearling is added. It is key to note that there are no mark ups on the horses, no margins or added payments on the sales ring purchase price.
There are up to 10,000 units per team and units are $260 per unit.
In addition to the purchase price there is an ongoing monthly fee of $20 for the first unit purchased and a $5 fee for any subsequent units purchased. You can own a single unit or up to 50 units. And when the horses are sold at the conclusion of their TRL career (via a public auction) you share in the proceeds on a pro rata basis. If a colt turns into a stallion prospect you share in the proceeds of the sale on a pro rata basis. A performance fee applies to TRL.
