IT DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER FOR TRL OWNERS

Feb 17, 2023

Have you come down from cloud nine yet?

It simply doesn’t get any better than last Saturday with TRL owners having 3 runners for 3 wins.

That’s 25 winners from 15 runners at a strike rate of 24%.

TRL UPCOMING RUNNERS :

Cool Jakey: February 21 –  Wyong or February 22 Warwick Farm

The Sherpa: February 24 – Ballina

Team Captain: February 25 – Lord Reims Hcp Morphettville

The Big Goodbye: March 4 – Eagle Farm

Bellinger: March 11 – Morphettville

Good luck to all owners now let’s check out the major chances for your TRL Trainers this Saturday.

NEWNHAM IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Exciting times for the NSW Tycoons this week with the long-awaited debut of Cool Jakey at either Wyong on Tuesday or Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

‘Jakey’ has been great in both his barrier trials and Mark expects him to be hard to beat wherever he goes.

At Rosehill, King Frankel looks good value at $4 in Race 7. He is first-up over 1900m but trialled well in the lead-up to Saturday.

BET: Cool Jakey – Each Way  (Wyong or Warwick Farm)

GAI & ADRIAN IN FOR A HOT DAY

It’s going to be a scorcher at Rosehill on Saturday, with Gai and Adrian potentially in for a huge day.

Platinum Jubilee, won her first start and I thought she was terrific in the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast.

For Valour (Race 5) is at the juicy odds of $9, he’s won only 4 of 17 but will be hard to beat.

Cross Talk (Race 9) is short in the market, but a very nice horse who is ready to win first-up.

RICHARD AND WILL HAVE A NICE HORSE

Won’t be long before both Luna Rocks and Etched In Time are back in pre-training for the Tycoons with Richard and Will.

At Rosehill, their outstanding filly Pavitra returns after a gallant second in the VRC Oaks. While the 1300m is way short of her best distance, I’m having something each way at $12.

BET: Pavitra – Each Way (Rosehill Race 6)

KIM LOVES A TRUE CRIME

Don’t let True Crime go around without having something on each way.

The inform Tyler Schiller has the ride, he’ll sit up on pace and be hard to get past.

BET: True Crime – Each Way (Rosehill Race 2)

LINDSAY PARK NOW LOVE ADELAIDE

The move by Lindsay Park to take Bellinger to Adelaide proved a master stroke.

At Flemington tomorrow, Ben and JD can start the day with a bang with Monarch of Egypt at the super attractive odds of $9.

BET: Monarch of Egypt – Each Way (Flemington Race 1)

MOODY’S HORSE MOVES IN EARLY MARKET

There’s been a big push for Peter Moody’s horse Nunthorpe in Race 2 at Flemington.

This 2yo filly is undefeated from two starts and is now a $4.80 chance in from $6.

BET: Nunthorpe –  Win (Flemington Race 2)

PRICE IS GOOD FRESH

Mick Price and Michael Kent Junior have one of the best fresh horses in the land with Annavisto returning at Flemington in Race 5.

This 5yo mare has won 3 of 4 first-up and has trialled well.

BET: Annavisto – Win (Flemington Race 5)

MAHER TO CAUSE AN UPSET

I understand you should never knock a champion and Nature Strip is certainly a champion and returns in the Black Caviar Lightning at Flemington.

But if there is to be an upset, Bella Nipotina could cause it. She was super impressive in a jump out which featured our very own Lethal Thoughts last week and may just have a fitness advantage.

BET: Bella Nipotina – Each Way (Flemington Race 7)

GOLLAN HAS SOME BIG TARGETS

Tony Gollan has some big targets coming up over Autumn starting with Baller in the Lightning Stakes at Flemington.

On his home track, we’ve singled out just Love Sensation (Race 3) at Eagle Farm. She’s a winner who’s been very good to us and can make it three in a row.

BET: Love Sensation – Win (Eagle Farm Race 3)

O’DEA/HOYSTED FEELING BETTER

The O’Dea/Hoysted yard has tipped Helluva Barty out for a short break before setting him for some major goals over the Brisbane Winter Carnival.

At Eagle Farm, happy to be with the team on Thatfeelsbetter in Race 7. Stepping up in distance it did win first-up before disappointing last start.

BET: Thatfeelsbetter – Each Way (EF Race 7)

EDMONDS CAMP TO STRIKE AGAIN

Toby and Trent Edmonds are having a terrific run and we are chiming in.

The Vowels (Race 9) has won it’s last 3, was super impressive winning at the Sunny Coast last start and can make it 4 in a row.

BET: The Vowels – Each Way (Eagle Farm Race 9)

Good luck and good punting!

IT DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER FOR TRL OWNERS

Feb 17, 2023

Cool Jakey was the King of Warwick Farm  on Wednesday and NSW Tycoons owners would like to package the Metropolitan track and just take it wherever Cool Jakey goes after he kept his undefeated record intact.

It’s remarkable that ‘Jakey’, trained on track and stabled across the road with Joe Pride, is one of those athletes, albeit of the equine kind, who thrives on his home ground.

He won on debut at Warwick Farm way back in February of 2023 and the love affair hasn’t ended, Cool Jakey has now won 4 from 4 at ‘The Farm’ and there’s plenty more wins in store for your son of Pierro.

BOUNCE BACK FACTOR

As Tycoons were made aware of, there’s a theory in racing that when a horse suffers from cardiac arrhythmia, “you must back it next start” and they win.

And that was certainly the message after Cool Jakey suffered cardiac arrhythmia the previous start at Randwick, with Joe Pride telling Tycoons in the pre-race late mail, “Don’t worry about what happened last start, the horse is fine and he looks great,” how right Joe was with Cool Jakey leading all the way.

HIPPO FROM BARRIER TO BOX

Adam Hyeronimus was having his first sit on Cool Jakey and he rode him a treat. We joked before the race “just go to the front and improve your position” and that’s exactly what he did.

“He jumped well and found a nice rhythm straight away, he had a nice time so I let him slide early into it at the 600metres so we did go a bit early.

“He felt fantastic throughout the run and was doing it easily, so I did get a bit of a surprise how quickly he stopped.

“So maybe I did go too early, but in saying that, maybe seven furlongs is his upper limit. On that effort he’ll be winning again” Jockey Adam Hyeronimus said.

JOE DELIGHTED

“That was good guys” trainer Joe Pride said, with a big smile to a large contingent of NSW Tycoons on Cool Jakey returning to scale.

“Look it was nice to see him win on a track that wasn’t bottomless wet, it opens up a lot more opportunities for him.

“In saying that if there was a 1400m for him in a fortnight on a Good track I would probably be reluctant to start him. We need to nurse him through it and the next month – six weeks isn’t going to be easy because it’s carnival time.

WHATS NEXT – PACK YOUR BAGS

The Tycoons have been very patient with Cool Jakey and their patience has been rewarded. He is building a very nice career record which stands at only 13 starts for 5 wins and a minor placing and is now pushing the $200,000 in prize money.

‘Jakey’ has initially pulled up well, but we all know that he is a delicate soul and has to be treated with kindness and Joe is reluctant to push him too hard too quickly. Which is fair enough.

“We might even consider travelling him maybe to Melbourne or Brisbane for a wet track, we just need to look after him.

“He’s been a good horse for us, we will look after him and his best opportunities will come in the Winter,” Joe concluded.

Congratulations to all NSW Tycoons and winning connections.

Go you good thing!
