ANOTHER BUMPER WEEKEND FOR TRL OWNERS

Mar 3, 2023

Another bumper period coming up for TRL Owners with 6 runners due to hit the track over the 9 days starting with last start winner The Big Goodbye on Saturday and concluding with Team Captain in the Adelaide Cup.

We trust that the record of 26 winners from 16 runners at a strike rate of 24%, is set to improve.

TRL UPCOMING RUNNERS :

The Big Goodbye: March 4 – Eagle Farm

The Sherpa: March 5 – Grafton

Cool Jakey: March 9 – Newcastle

Lethal Thoughts: March 11 – Flemington

Bellinger: March 11 – Morphettville

Team Captain: March 13 – Morphettville

Good luck to all owners now let’s check out the major chances for your TRL Trainers this Saturday.

THE BIG G – THE HORSE THAT JUST KEEPS GIVING

He is TRL’s most-winning horse, The Big Goodbye already posting 5 wins for owners in the QLD Rogues and he’s equal favourite to make that 6 wins on Saturday at Eagle Farm.

“He turned in a super piece of work on Tuesday morning, with scratchings he comes into barrier 7 and he’ll go forward from the wide gate and hopefully give his normal kick in the straight,” trainer Rob Heathcote said.

The Big Gee takes on the well credentialled Hilal in Race 8, but reputations mean little to this “giant killer”.

Good luck owners.

BET: The Big Goodbye – Win (Eagle Farm Race 8)

NSW TYCOONS HAVE EVERY REASON TO BE EXCITED

“He’s done really well since his win at Warwick Farm, I think he goes pretty good that horse,” quipped trainer Mark Newnham when discussing Cool Jakey.

Mark has been unable to find a suitable race in town for Cool Jakey so is heading to Newcastle on Thursday.

At Randwick, Matcha Latte looks like terrific value around the $10 quote and is a good each way bet in a tough race.

BET: Matcha Latte –  Each Way (Randwick Race 8)

GAI & ADRIAN LOOKING FOR MORE BLOOD

After the Group 1 success of Alligator Blood last week, Gai and Adrian are looking at a Sydney double with classy 2yo Red Resistance and the tough Sacramento.

Red Resistance is undefeated, makes his own luck and shows great fight.

Sacramento is pretty tight in the market but will get the distance and is fit.

BET: Red Resistance – Win (Randwick Race 2)

BET: Sacramento – Win (Randwick Race 4)

STICK WITH JOE PRIDE

Joe Pride doesn’t have a horse for the Tycoons at the moment, but we jumped on board Think About It last week and I’m happy to be with the old boy Eduardo, who’s won the last two Challenge Stakes and can win a third straight.

BET: Eduardo – Each Way (Randwick Race 6)

MAHER/EUSTACE KEEPING LETHAL SAFE

The Maher/Eustace camp were toying with the idea of starting Lethal Thoughts off at Wangaratta this Saturday, but he’ll now go to Flemington for a 1400m race on March 11.

At Flemington, Running By, is massive odds at $14 to win the Inglis Sprint. A 3yo filly who was very good fresh last prep.

At Randwick, Kundalini has barrier 1 and James McDonald to steer and is capable of upsetting hot-pot Learning To Fly.

BET: Running By – Each Way (Flemington Race 6)

BET: Kundalini – Each Way (Randwick Race 3)

RICHARD AND WILL WITH ANOTHER INTERSTATE RAID

They have mastered the art of the interstate raid and Richard and Will Freedman head to Flemington with On The Lead.

On The Lead was a flashing second placing last start and was a winner before that.

BET: On The Lead – Each Way (Flemington Race 3)

BEN AND JD HAYES ARE FLYING

Hats off to Ben and JD Hayes on winning the Blue Diamond last week, massive effort and well deserved.

They can win the Blamey Stakes tomorrow with Gentleman Roy, a tough-on pacer who looks well-placed. Have a saver on Smokin Romans who worked enormously alongside Lethal Thoughts this week.

BET: Gentleman Roy – Win (Flemington Race 8)

HALF A DOZEN FOR GOLLAN

Tony Gollan has a 6-horse attack at Eagle Farm this Saturday, we are banking on just two to get the job done.

Deer Trail is at the juicy odds of $8, he’s a winner of 2 of 3 starts and is coming off a good trial.

Tilanam is tight in the market at $4 and has to overcome barrier 14, but will go forward.

BET: Deer Trail  –  Each Way (Eagle Farm Race 2)

BET: Tilanam – Each Way (Eagle Farm Race 9)

O’DEA/HOYSTED IN FORM

There’s no stable in better form than the O’Dea/Hoysted yard who I imagine are still celebrating their first Group 1 with Uncommon James last weekend.

Not as exciting but at Eagle Farm, they can win a couple. Sunshine Highway is good odds in Race 4 and has been specked from $11 into $9.

Spin Doctor is an exciting 2yo who was scratched last week and looked unlucky in a Deagon trial.

BET: Sunshine Highway – Each Way (Eagle Farm Race 4)

BET: Spin Doctor – Each Way (Eagle Farm Race 5)

Good luck and good punting!

ANOTHER BUMPER WEEKEND FOR TRL OWNERS

Mar 3, 2023

Cool Jakey was the King of Warwick Farm  on Wednesday and NSW Tycoons owners would like to package the Metropolitan track and just take it wherever Cool Jakey goes after he kept his undefeated record intact.

It’s remarkable that ‘Jakey’, trained on track and stabled across the road with Joe Pride, is one of those athletes, albeit of the equine kind, who thrives on his home ground.

He won on debut at Warwick Farm way back in February of 2023 and the love affair hasn’t ended, Cool Jakey has now won 4 from 4 at ‘The Farm’ and there’s plenty more wins in store for your son of Pierro.

BOUNCE BACK FACTOR

As Tycoons were made aware of, there’s a theory in racing that when a horse suffers from cardiac arrhythmia, “you must back it next start” and they win.

And that was certainly the message after Cool Jakey suffered cardiac arrhythmia the previous start at Randwick, with Joe Pride telling Tycoons in the pre-race late mail, “Don’t worry about what happened last start, the horse is fine and he looks great,” how right Joe was with Cool Jakey leading all the way.

HIPPO FROM BARRIER TO BOX

Adam Hyeronimus was having his first sit on Cool Jakey and he rode him a treat. We joked before the race “just go to the front and improve your position” and that’s exactly what he did.

“He jumped well and found a nice rhythm straight away, he had a nice time so I let him slide early into it at the 600metres so we did go a bit early.

“He felt fantastic throughout the run and was doing it easily, so I did get a bit of a surprise how quickly he stopped.

“So maybe I did go too early, but in saying that, maybe seven furlongs is his upper limit. On that effort he’ll be winning again” Jockey Adam Hyeronimus said.

JOE DELIGHTED

“That was good guys” trainer Joe Pride said, with a big smile to a large contingent of NSW Tycoons on Cool Jakey returning to scale.

“Look it was nice to see him win on a track that wasn’t bottomless wet, it opens up a lot more opportunities for him.

“In saying that if there was a 1400m for him in a fortnight on a Good track I would probably be reluctant to start him. We need to nurse him through it and the next month – six weeks isn’t going to be easy because it’s carnival time.

WHATS NEXT – PACK YOUR BAGS

The Tycoons have been very patient with Cool Jakey and their patience has been rewarded. He is building a very nice career record which stands at only 13 starts for 5 wins and a minor placing and is now pushing the $200,000 in prize money.

‘Jakey’ has initially pulled up well, but we all know that he is a delicate soul and has to be treated with kindness and Joe is reluctant to push him too hard too quickly. Which is fair enough.

“We might even consider travelling him maybe to Melbourne or Brisbane for a wet track, we just need to look after him.

“He’s been a good horse for us, we will look after him and his best opportunities will come in the Winter,” Joe concluded.

Congratulations to all NSW Tycoons and winning connections.

Go you good thing!
