MISS TRUSTFUL DESERVED THAT WIN
You don’t always get what you deserve in the racing game, but few would argue that Miss Trustful deserved that win in what proved to be the lucky last at Ballarat on Friday, September 18.
Famous for its rich mining history, it seemed fitting that the Vic Husslers struck GOLD with their Stakes placed filly in the famous town.
It’s only her second career victory, but her record of 16 career starts for the 2 wins and 6 minor placings could read so much better if lady lucky had been kinder.
The win also catapulted the Vic Husslers to a healthy, but not insurmountable, lead in the dash for the Big Cash for Month 11 of Season 4 of TRL.
NO ONE IS HAPPIER THAN ASSISTANT TRAINER
There’s no soap opera like the racing game, and the raw emotion and the love of the animal were there for all to see from Assistant Trainer Nikki White, who was genuinely delighted with the long overdue victory.
“Congratulations to all the Vic Husslers who have been so patient with Miss Trustful, but great to see her reward them for their patience.
“She is just the nicest filly to do anything with, a real darling in our stable at Ballarat.
“She is an absolute beauty, and it was so good to see her get that win today. That will do her confidence the world of good, and we should be able to find another race for her going forward.
“I couldn’t be happier for all the owners and us as well.” Nikki White concluded.

CHANGE OF FORTUNE
A member of the Vic Husslers stable, Miss Trustful has spent most of her life on the road in the Ciaron Maher system chasing the rich bonuses associated with the QTIS breeding system in Queensland.
Whether she is now more mature or maybe just enjoying being back in Victoria, the daughter of Dubious certainly seems to be happier and racing more consistently in her home state.
Miss Trustful headed to Ballarat on the back of three consecutive third placings, and last time out was desperately unlucky when beaten a nose a nose. And it wasn’t a case of a bad ride from Ethan Brown, more just a victim of circumstances.
JOCKEY TOO LUCK OUT OF THE EQUATION
Jockey Thomas Stockdale had done his video homework and, from the good gate, took bad luck out of the equation, driving Miss Trustful to one off the fence behind the two leaders who went at a good clip.
“She was good, she left the gates clean, she found a beautiful rhythm, the two horses that burnt off in front set a nice tempo for us.
“She is the horse that doesn’t possess a great deal of acceleration but has a short sprint and then grinds away.
“We got rolling out of the corner, and she knuckled down well and got there late, but was strong.
“I think the way she settles and relaxes in her races and then grinds away, I think she will get further. If Ciaron and the team wanted to step her up in trip, I wouldn’t be against that.” Stockdale said.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR MISSY
The great news is Miss Trustful has initially pulled up well with Ciaron and the team gathering to plot a way forward.
Would she stay at 1500m in the country or be stretched further in trip and class.
“She can have few quiet days after what she did at Ballarat.
“She is quite a big strong filly, so it does appear there could be some scope to stretch her out a bit further, and I think jockey Thomas Stockdale agrees.”
Keep an eye on owner updates for what’s next for Miss Trustful.
