MORE RUNNERS, MORE WINNERS, MORE THRILLS

Nov 18, 2022

It’s a case of ‘which way to look’ for Owners in The Racing League over the next week, with 6 runners across three states.

Kicking off with Maroon Magic at 6pm today and concluding with Team Captain in the Sandown Cup on Saturday week.

UPCOMING RUNNERS THIS WEEK:

  • Maroon Magic: Friday, Nov 18 – Grafton
  • Sidenay: Saturday, Nov 19 – Gosford
  • The Big Freeze: Tuesday, Nov 22 – Geelong
  • Greylander: Wednesday, Nov 23 – Doomben
  • Bellinger: Friday, Nov 25 – Wodonga
  • Team Captain: Saturday, Nov 26 – Sandown Cup (Caulfield)

Good luck to all Owners and now let’s check out the major chances of your TRL Trainers this Saturday.

KIM WAUGH STANDS FIRM WITH SIDENAY

Trainer Kim Waugh hasn’t lost faith in Sidenay who’s been luckless in his three starts so far.

He continues to work well and has come through his torrid run at Gosford in good order.

He’s a $30 chance at Gosford with Kim declaring, “there looks to be plenty of speed outside him so we will be positive and try and slot in”.

Kim has a horse who’s been good to us in Bethencourt (Race 6 Gosford) who did nothing first-up but has an outstanding second-up record. He’s tight in the market at $2.40 but should win.

FREEDMAN’S TO THE FORE

Richard and Will Freedman continue to be happy with the progress of Luna Rocks with the ultimate target Magic Millions day on the Gold Coast.

On Saturday at Kembla Grange, they have two strong chances in Amathuba (Race 5) and Juan Diva (Race 7).

Amathuva, has been supported from $13 to $9, she’s first-up but has plenty of ability.

Juan Diva, is a talented filly, who’s also been specked in early markets at $9 possesses a tremendous second-up record but needs a gem of a ride from Tommy Sherry to overcome barrier 14.

BET: Amathuba – Each Way (Kembla Race 5)

BET: Juan Diva – Each Way (Kembla Race 7)

GAI AND ADRIAN TO ROCK THE GONG

The Waterhouse/Bott stable is in great form.

Vreneli (Race 6) has won a couple of trials and with Tim Clark on board from gate 1 should go to the front and improve his position.

Riodini (Race 8) two runs this prep have been okay, is now stepping up to 1600m and $10 can entertain a small wager.

CIARON AND DAVE STRONG AGAIN

Ciaron Maher and Dave Eustace will have winners this Saturday. The trick is with so many runners finding the right horses.

At Kembla, Nugget (Race 9) looks a nice play, he’s won 4 of 12, and is coming off a good second to Detonator Jack.

Unanimous (Race 5) had no luck at Flemington is up in the weights here but capable.

Detonator Jack (Race 10) looks like a good thing to me, 4 wins from 5 starts tells you he’s pretty good.

BET: Nugget – Each Way (Kembla Race 9)

BET: Unanimous – Each Way (Ballarat Race 5)

BET: Detonator Jack – Win (Ballarat Race 10)

HAYES HEADS TO BALLARAT CONFIDENT

The Hayes camp are now sending Bellinger to Wodonga next Friday and are confident of a result.

At Ballarat, Elteecee (Race 7) is quoted at $14, he did win well at Moonee Valley two starts back and with Ollie in the saddle happy to have something each way.

Nicolini Vito (Race 9) has been well supported from $12 to $9. Its last couple of runs have been solid and is ready to run a race.

GOLLAN READY TO GO GREY

Can’t wait for Tony Gollan to produce Greylander next Wednesday at Doomben his last trial was great and he looks an exciting prospect.

At Doomben, narrowed Tony’s runners down to just one, Golden Boom who’s an odds on favourite so let’s go the quinella with his other runner All That Pizzazz.

O’DEA/HOYSTED BETTER GET SET

Won’t be that long before Helluva Barty is back in the O’Dea/Hoysted yard with the team still bullish about an Autumn campaign.

At Doomben, Fleetwood Maca (Race 6) should be able to get the gun run from barrier 1 with Ben Thompson on board and go close to back to back wins for his new stable.

Better Get Set (Race 9) has been smashed in early markets, she won well at Eagle Farm last start and is another who can go back to back.

ROB HEATHCOTE HAS ONE AT VALUE

Rob Heathcote is excited about The Big Goodbye and his upcoming campaign targeting the $11.5 million Magic Millions day on the Gold Coast.

At Doomben, Flying Rothe (Race 4) has been backed from $13 to $11 good odds considering he is coming off a win with Jaden Lloyd needing some luck from barrier 10.

BET: Flying Rothe – Each Way (Doomben Race 4)

Good luck and good punting.

MORE RUNNERS, MORE WINNERS, MORE THRILLS

Nov 18, 2022

Cool Jakey was the King of Warwick Farm  on Wednesday and NSW Tycoons owners would like to package the Metropolitan track and just take it wherever Cool Jakey goes after he kept his undefeated record intact.

It’s remarkable that ‘Jakey’, trained on track and stabled across the road with Joe Pride, is one of those athletes, albeit of the equine kind, who thrives on his home ground.

He won on debut at Warwick Farm way back in February of 2023 and the love affair hasn’t ended, Cool Jakey has now won 4 from 4 at ‘The Farm’ and there’s plenty more wins in store for your son of Pierro.

BOUNCE BACK FACTOR

As Tycoons were made aware of, there’s a theory in racing that when a horse suffers from cardiac arrhythmia, “you must back it next start” and they win.

And that was certainly the message after Cool Jakey suffered cardiac arrhythmia the previous start at Randwick, with Joe Pride telling Tycoons in the pre-race late mail, “Don’t worry about what happened last start, the horse is fine and he looks great,” how right Joe was with Cool Jakey leading all the way.

HIPPO FROM BARRIER TO BOX

Adam Hyeronimus was having his first sit on Cool Jakey and he rode him a treat. We joked before the race “just go to the front and improve your position” and that’s exactly what he did.

“He jumped well and found a nice rhythm straight away, he had a nice time so I let him slide early into it at the 600metres so we did go a bit early.

“He felt fantastic throughout the run and was doing it easily, so I did get a bit of a surprise how quickly he stopped.

“So maybe I did go too early, but in saying that, maybe seven furlongs is his upper limit. On that effort he’ll be winning again” Jockey Adam Hyeronimus said.

JOE DELIGHTED

“That was good guys” trainer Joe Pride said, with a big smile to a large contingent of NSW Tycoons on Cool Jakey returning to scale.

“Look it was nice to see him win on a track that wasn’t bottomless wet, it opens up a lot more opportunities for him.

“In saying that if there was a 1400m for him in a fortnight on a Good track I would probably be reluctant to start him. We need to nurse him through it and the next month – six weeks isn’t going to be easy because it’s carnival time.

WHATS NEXT – PACK YOUR BAGS

The Tycoons have been very patient with Cool Jakey and their patience has been rewarded. He is building a very nice career record which stands at only 13 starts for 5 wins and a minor placing and is now pushing the $200,000 in prize money.

‘Jakey’ has initially pulled up well, but we all know that he is a delicate soul and has to be treated with kindness and Joe is reluctant to push him too hard too quickly. Which is fair enough.

“We might even consider travelling him maybe to Melbourne or Brisbane for a wet track, we just need to look after him.

“He’s been a good horse for us, we will look after him and his best opportunities will come in the Winter,” Joe concluded.

Congratulations to all NSW Tycoons and winning connections.

Go you good thing!
