PROMISING SIGNS FOR A QUEENSLAND LARRIKIN

Oct 30, 2023

By Terry Kennedy

If there can ever be such a thing as a “terrific fourth” well Larrikin Rogue notched one on Saturday at Doomben finishing hard on the heels of the placegetters in the Class 3 Plate over 1200m.

Officially he was 1.3 lengths, but did reel off the fastest final 200m of the race clocking 11.48 seconds.

Just keep in mind ‘Larrikin’ was first-up with a belief you won’t see the best of him till he gets over 1400m or even a Mile, so there was every reason to be happy with the effort.

JOCKEY & TRAINER HAPPY

“Really good guys, he did his normal thing and was a bit slow out. Just having to come from last like that would be very hard, his sectionals would be very good.

“I think he ran super” jockey Michael Rodd said.

“He looks to have pulled up excellent, I thought his run was super and he was taking two strides to their one.

“He’s certainly starting to profile a horse that performs second-up and a trip beyond, he’ll only get better and better.

“I couldn’t be more pleased and the best is yet to come”  Larrikin Rogue Trainer Chris Anderson

BACK TO DOOMBEN OVER 1350m

Ideally the bigger more open spaces of 1400m at Eagle Farm would be ideal next up for Larrikin Rogue but that’s not available as an option to us at the moment.

“So all things going well there’s a 1350m at Doomben in a fortnight. While it would have been great to have won, I couldn’t be more pleased and the best is yet to come”. Anderson concluded.

THE EXCITEMENT WILL ONLY GROW

We haven’t set an ultimate goal for Larrikin Rogue yet, there’s plenty of Saturday races coming up for him and we trust he’ll make that step up to the Listed level.

As always the horse tells us, but what an exciting prospect he is.

Go you good thing!
