Sidenay (Star Turn x Blitz n Magic) stepped out for his first trial for the NSW Tycoons on Friday at Gosford and despite being a bit green in the run, he came home strong to win the trial impressively. It is the most animated that trainer Kim Waugh has been in an owners report so far which says a lot about his talent, and she clearly sees a bright future for this gelding.
Jockey Patrick Scorse was equally as impressed with Sidenay’s performance, saying post trial: “It was a lovely trial and he was really impressive, real switched on and a really smart young horse. I was really impressed with his manners and his ability and how he finished off the trial with something in hand. Very strong”
Sidenay will now have another trial on March 30 before Kim finds a suitable race for him to kick off his racing career. Check out the trial replay below:
Kim said she was very excited to watch him trial and despite jumping a bit slow, Sidenay travelled lovely and finished off really strong.
“He is still a bit new with everything but won the trial and just has the best temperament. He is going to be a real professional work horse for us and I think we are going to have a lot of fun with him. I think we all have something to be excited about with him and it was just really impressive.” said Kim.
