SPORT EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK

It’s a sports lovers dream this weekend, the AFL Grand Final, Preliminary Finals for the NRL, the Group 1 Golden Rose at Rosehill Gardens and to top it all off more Group 1 glory on the line at Sandown with the Group 1 Underwood Stakes.

Bellinger started his campaign on an unsuitable Heavy 10 track at Benalla on Friday and showed he’s in for a big preparation with a gallant second. While Helluva Barty debuts for the Qld Rogues on Wednesday.

Time to check out the major chances from your other TRL trainers this Saturday.

MOODY IN FOR A DAY TO REMEMBER?

First-up how good was it to see The Big Freeze trial above expectations earlier this week for Pete Moody and the Vic Husslers.

On Sunday at Sandown, Moods could be in for a massive day.

Madrean (Race 1) should be undefeated in her two starts, and was an easy winner at Cranbourne, one to watch.

Pounding (Race 3) $7 which seems generous considering its great win last start, Pounding has won on soft ground.

Waltz On By (Race 6) $4.60 won easily last start at Sandown is a nice Vinnie filly going places.

I Wish I Win (Race 9) $2 won’t get rich backing this, but seeing is believing and was the favourite for the Rupert Clarke but didn’t get a run.

BET: Madrean – Each Way (Sandown Race 1)

BET: Pounding- Each Way (Sandown Race 3)

BET: Waltz On By – Each Way (Sandown Race 6)

BET: I Wish I Win – Win  (Sandown Race 9)

HAYES BOYS TO KEEP THE ROLL GOING

Lindsay Park was delighted with the way Bellinger performed and pulled up from his first-up effort on an unsuitable Heavy track at Benalla.

On Sunday the stable’s two best chances appear to be:

Sandy Prince (Race 2) is $6 in a wide-open race, he did win last start is at peak fitness and has Ollie in the saddle.

Gentleman Roy (Race 8) is a $5 chance and was given no rest in the lead last start and did an enormous job to hang on for second.

BET: Sandy Prince – Each Way (Sandown Race 2)

BET: Gentleman Roy  – Each Way (Sandown Race 8)

BUSUTTIN WITH A GLINT IN HIS EYE

Glint of Hope is a horse I reckon you can follow with some confidence.

He looks well placed at Sandown in Race 5, is well drawn and should get the gun run and be too strong.

BET:  Glint of Hope – Each Way (Sandown Race 5)

PRICE IS THUNDERSTRUCK

I’m Thunderstruck is one tough customer, his win last start was all class and he’ll have to improve again taking on Zaaki in the Underwood.

Tight in the market at $2.90 the extra 200m, the long straight and the timing of Mick Price and Michael Kent Junior looks perfect.

BET:  I’m Thunderstruck – Win (Sandown Race 7)

GOLDEN ROSE A CRACKING EDITION

A cracking edition of the Golden Rose with the Godolphin trained In Secret, a short priced favourite.

NSW Tycoons owners can take a form line through her with Luna Rocks. At Scone in the Listed Woodlands Luna Rocks missed the kick and finished 5th to In Secret.

While she’s good, I’m sticking with the Mick Price trained Jacquinot, who’s trained by MIck Price and did the right thing by us last start. He’s been $9 into $7.

BET: Jacquinot – Each Way (Rosehill Race 8)

CIARON’S BEST AND BEST EACH WAY

It’s never easy sorting through all of the Maher/Eustace runners but we’ve come up with their best and then their best each way chance.

Cadre DuNoir (Race 4) is now short in the market at $2.15, he’s won his last two starts including his last on a Heavy 9.

Narrated (Race 5) has been specked from $11 into $9. Reece Jones takes the 1.5kg claim, she has been freshened for this and 1400m suits.

BET: Cadre DuNoir – Win (Rosehill Race 4)

BET: Narrated – Each Way (Rosehill Race 5)

MARK NEWNHAM – A HOT POT AND A FINE RED

Not too sure if a Spicy Hot Pot and A Very Fine Red go together, but trainer Mark Newnham is certainly hoping so.

Spicy Hotpot (Race 6) is a 3yo filly resuming at the big odds of $20 with Sportsbet. She’s only had two starts and arguably should be undefeated.

A Very Fine Red (Race 10) has been specked in Sportsbet markets from $10 to $8 had some good form around horses like Marzu and the trials have been very good.

BET: Spicy Hotpot – Each Way (Rosehill Race 6)

BET: A Very Fine Red – Each Way (Rosehill Race 10)

HEATHCOTE ALL SMILES

The Big Goodbye has started pre-training for Rob Heathcote and that will only stretch his smile a little wider.

On Saturday, Rob has his favourite girl Startantes (Race 7) as a $7 chance. She’s a Group 1 winning mare who gets through a Slow track and her second-up form is good.

BET: Startantes  – Each Way (Rosehill Race 7)

SURF DANCER FOR GAI

It hasn’t been beach weather but Surf Dancer (Race 9) has been backed from $9 into $7 for Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott stable. Is the South Grafton Cup winner and the Soft track is no problem.

BET: Surf Dancer – Each Way (Rosehill Race 9)

GOLLAN GOES BACK HOME

Champion trainer Tony Gollan goes back to his old stomping ground in Toowoomba with a strong book.

Self Indulgent (Race 1) is $1.70 is coming off a win and should win.

Muschialli (Race 2) has firmed from $6 to $5 and has the inside draw and no excuses this time.

Ulysses (Race 6) $4.50 was only average when returning but won second-up last preparation.

Aussie Nugget (Race 7) , who is solid at $5.50 was back to winning form in the Heavy last start and can win again.

BET: Self Indulgent – Win (Toowoomba Race 1)

BET: Muschialli – Each Way (Toowoomba Race 2)

BET: Ulysses – Each Way (Toowoomba Race 6)

BET: Aussie Nugget – Each Way (Toowoomba Race 7)

Good luck and good punting.
