Owners of Team Captain, have you come down to earth yet? I know, I haven’t!

WOW what a win by Team Captain streeting the field in the Macca’s Run over 2800 metres at Flemington on “the day that stops the nation”.

While Covid restrictions were enforced with only 10,000 patrons allowed on track, there was still a massive roar that echoed all over the Flemington and beyond when Team Captain hit the gas and kicked clear in the final 200 metres and kept going further away from his rivals. Watch the replay below:

According to trainer Matt Cumani “owners of Team Captain are in for a thrilling ride with the aim to be here at Flemington this time next year not only running in the Melbourne Cup but a contender in the Cup”.

“I’m led to believe there’s some shares still remaining in Team Captain. My advice would be to buy as many as you can,” Cumani added.

Cumani has only had Team Captain for two months for two wins, the Hamilton Cup four weeks ago and now the Macca’s Run at Flemington.

“Team Captain is my dream horse, he could get any distance right up to 3200m’ one that suits his training techniques founded on getting the best out of stayers. Here’s a superbly bred horse, sound in wind and limb with excellent post-race recovery, and the perfect chilled demeanour in taking to stable life and training at Ballarat”.

The Macca’s Run was Team Captain’s first start over 2400m and he clearly loved it and thrived.

“I was buggered and couldn’t wait to get off the horse, but Team Captain could have done another lap of Flemington” jockey Blaike McDougall said.

Matt and all at Cumani Racing had a closing message on Team Captain’s stunning victory.

“We are so thrilled for all of you in the ownership of Team Captain. To those of you who were on-course today—we heard you and the cameras found you for those of us on the couch elsewhere. There’s absolutely nothing like it! No matter what you’re holding in this horse—he’s YOURS! Congratulations and dare to dream—we all are!
