THE SHERPA STUMBLES

Oct 5, 2021

You learn something new about the horses you own every time they have a race start, sometimes the lessons are tough.

Owners of The Sherpa, now know something about their horse, they didn’t know before his fourth start at Muswellbrook this past Holiday Monday – he doesn’t like a rain affected track.

That certainly appears to be the excuse for his lack-lustre effort at Muswellbrook, where he was third favourite and expected to run well.

Once the gates flew back it was obvious that The Sherpa never appeared comfortable and never travelled (relaxed) in behind the frantic pace.

Despite all that jockey Ash Morgan still had him well placed behind the leaders on the home turn but he simply never “let down” on the shifting surface. If horses aren’t comfortable they simply don’t stretch out.

There’s still plenty to like about The Sherpa, with Cav now looking at his next mountain to climb on a firm surface. Onwards and upwards for The Sherpa.
