UGLY TRAINER CLASH

The battle to be a trainer for YOU in The Racing League has taken a nasty twist with two old foes Brett Cavanough and Tony Gollan clashing.

A war of words (mostly from Cavanough) savaging Gollan’s Queensland Rogues trainer pitch video has sparked the first of what we see many clashes between the states.

Cavanough has thrown his hat into the ring to train for the NSW Tycoons but couldn’t resist firing barbs across the bow of Gollan in the lead-up to the start of VOTING on December 4.

BLACK HEARTS EXTENSION

It’s been a busy but highly successful time for Perth racing with their Group One carnival just completed and the Perth Cup still to come two days into the New Year.

With trainers under heavy commitments we have extended the training pitch deadline for the WA Black Hearts till Friday February 5.

WA Black Hearts voting will now commence on Monday February 8 till Friday February 12, with the winning WA trainers announced on Monday February 15.

Two WA trainers who flew the barriers with their video pitch to win YOUR vote so far were Hayden Ballantyne and Jim Taylor Racing.

MAGIC MILLIONS GLORY

There’s no Christmas break for participants in the racing industry over the festive season.

The sport is “abuzz” with talk of the extended Magic Millions Yearling Sales with 962 yearlings due to go under the hammer in the premium sale, while there’s a total of 1273 lots over an amazing 7 days starting from January 12.

TRL’s bloodstock team has been covering thousands of kilometres inspecting and also dropped into the nearby Vinery Stud for a look.

WYONG MILLIONS WINNER SUPER IMPRESSIVE

Gai Waterhouse was looking for three successive Wyong Magic Millions Classic victories, but it was Chris Waller who stole the show with She’s All Class.

Ridden by James McDonald, She’s All Class was eased down to win by a massive five lengths and has now rocketed to equal favouritism with stablemate Shaquero for Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast on January 16.

The Wyong race is a great guide to the big one, with 4 winners going on to be successful in the big one.
