EVEREST WRAP

We are just one week away from the $15 million TABEverest and only one spot remains after the James Harron group snapped up last weekend’s impressive winner Libertini.

Strangely enough the spot yet to be filled is controlled by Chris Waller Racing, arguably the biggest stable in the country.

You would think there’s only a couple of horses lift in the frame for Chris to choose, the likes of Wild Ruler and Doubtland who go a round in Saturday’s Roman Consul Stakes. While who knows Alligator Blood could still get a late call up if he impresses in the Silver Eagle over 1300m.

Finally on Everest news, Bivouac and Eduardo were very impressive in barrier trials on Friday at Warwick Farm.

CAULFIELD:

The build-up to the “big three” continues at Caulfield this Saturday…and when I say “big three” I mean the Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup.

A small but select field lines up in the Caulfield Stakes with Cups hotpot Russian Camelot the raging odds on favourite.

The battler from the West, Arcadia Queen has been super consistent this preparation, is now three runs deep and may be able to expose the favourite.

The Caulfield Guineas is a stallion making race, with Ole Kirk the logical favourite over the 1600m, Group 1 contest. Many believe Ole Kirk was a red-hot Everest contender but the Hawkes team to their credit has always favoured the Guineas.

The three-year-old fillies line-up in the Thousand Guineas, with the unbeaten Mo’Unga the one to watch. The Chris Waller trained galloper is unbeaten in three starts, has Damien Oliver on board to overcome a tricky barrier (11) and could be something out of the box.

ROYAL RANDWICK

The Moet & Chandon Spring Champion is the feature at Royal Randwick with a capacity field lining up in the prestigious Group 1, 2000metre challenge.

Richard and Michael Freedman have unearthed this exciting three-year-old stayer prospect in Love Tap, who’s undefeated in four starts and is coming off a super all the way win last start. Love Tap is the one to watch.
