TRL SATURDAY TRIPLE TREAT

Feb 10, 2023

It’s another first for TRL owners on Saturday with 3 runners across two states.

TRL UPCOMING RUNNERS :

Helluva Barty, February 11 – Race 6 Doomben

The Big Goodbye, February 11 – Race 8 Doomben

Bellinger, February 11 – Race 2 Morphettville

Cool Jakey, February 21 Wyong or February 22 Warwick Farm

Team Captain, February 25 – Lord Reims Hcp Morphettville

Good luck to all Owners and now let’s check out the major chances for your TRL Trainers this Saturday.

BELLINGER SNEAKS ACROSS THE BORDER

Bellinger was scratched from Sale last Sunday with Ben and JD Hayes believing Morphettville on Saturday was a more winnable race.

Bellinger has raced well without luck this preparation, his work has been extremely good and he deserves a win.

At Randwick in the $1 million Inglis Millenium, the brothers have Arkansaw Kid as a great chance at the juicy odds of $16. He won his only start on Heavy ground but looked good on top of the ground in a recent trial.

BET: Bellinger – Each Way  (Morphettville Race 2)

BET: Arkansaw Kid – Each Way (Randwick Race 6)

THE BIG GOODBYE WELL PLACED

The Big Goodbye has drawn perfectly in barrier 4 for the Qld Rogues and also jockey Angela Jones who’ll claim 2kgs.

He loves Doomben and was super impressive winning there two starts back before being unplaced when trapped wide last start over an unsuitable 1100m.

Stick with the Big G!

BET: The Big Goodbye – Each Way (Doomben Race 8)

HELL OF A BARRIER FOR HELLUVA BARTY

Still not totally sure if the O’Dea/Hoysted yard will push on with starting Helluva Barty after drawing barrier 14 for Race 2 at Doomben.

He could not have been more impressive winning his maiden by 4 lengths last start eased down. He did pick up a cut on his leg that day, but it’s healed well and his work has been great.

If he runs, I’ll be on.

At Sandown, the stable can also win the Rubiton Stakes with their star galloper Uncommon James. He streeted the field in the Regal Roller and has been set for this. Stick with him.

BET: Helluva Barty  – Each Way (Doomben Race 6)

BET: Uncommon James – Win (Sandown Race 6)

GAI & ADRIAN MAY DOMINATE RANDWICK

Gai and Adrian look set to make the most of their home track advantage at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

Major Artie has been well supported, and will hopefully get a soft lead and be too strong.

North Star Lass is a juicy odds $11, and if there’s to be upset of In Secret, she could provide it.

Vreneli has been extremely good to us, was a strong second last start and is now down in grade.

BET: Major Artie – Win – Win (Randwick Race 4)

BET: North Star Lass – Each Way (Randwick Race 7)

BET: Vreneli – Each Way (Randwick Race 9)

CIARON ACROSS TWO STATES

Settled on two of the Maher/Eustace runners over two different states.

At Randwick, Swat’s That is at double-digit odds $10, she has a good gate (3) and has a great first-up record.

At Sandown, The Fortune Teller was a first-up winner last prep and has plenty of class.

BET: Swat’s That – Each Way (Randwick Race 5)

BET: The Fortune Teller – Win  (Sandown Race 2)

PRICE/KENT SPOILT FOR CHOICE

The Mick Price/Michael Kent Junior yard has Jacquinot and I’m Thunderstruck both clash in the Group 1 CF Orr at Sandown.

I favor Jacquinot to make the most of her weight advantage against I’m Thunderstruck and the older horses.

While in Race 4, Charm Stone is short at $2.90 but Price did say, “he might be the best 2yo he’s ever trained”. If that’s the case I’m sticking with Charm Stone.

BET: Charm Stone –  Win (Sandown Race 4)

BET: Jacquinot – Each Way (Sandown Race 7)

FREEMAN’S TRIED AND TRUE PLAN

Richard and Will Freedman have had great success traveling horses to Brisbane and winning.

At Doomben on Saturday, Portnoy fits the bill. It’s coming off a win in the Bathurst Cup and profiles well for this race.

BET: Portnoy – Each Way  (Doomben Race 2)

MOODY SET TO THE DANCE

Just the one from the on-fire Pete Moody stable.

She Dances has won her last 3 straight, so is hardly flying under the radar, but with Jamie Kah on board to navigate a difficult barrier she remains a great each way chance.

BET: She Dances – Each Way (Sandown Race 5)

Good luck and good punting!
