TRL TAKES ON THE INGLIS SALES

Apr 1, 2021

SEE YOU AT THE EASTER SALES

TRL owners are you ready to go shopping.

We are not talking about new shoes, outfits, suits or ties but for the best yearlings on offer at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sales on April 6 & 7 to fill your team’s stable. Your Head of Bloodstock Mick Malone is currently scouring the country, visiting the best farms, casting his expert eye over the juveniles and compiling his shopping list for the most prestigious sale in this country.

The Easter Sale is the flagship of the Inglis organization, showcasing the best young thoroughbreds in the Southern Hemisphere at the William Inglis Complex, adjacent to Warwick Farm racecourse. There’s an argument to say it’s the most prestigious yearling sale anywhere in the world and competes right up there with Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky and Tattersalls at Newmarket in England

Australian horses are bred for speed, explosive qualities that are key in bringing buyers from all over the world for the Easter Sale, although with Covid, there’ll be less visiting overseas buyers…but be certain they’ll be represented by agents or can now bid on line.

The Golden Slipper is the most influential race in Australia, sure there’s the Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate or Everest…but nothing shapes the future of the race horse industry like the Slipper. If a colt wins, it’s instantly worth $30million, if a filly salutes her residual value skyrockets.

Twenty of the past Slipper winners have come from Inglis sales the likes of Luskin Star, Marscay, Flying Spur, Moss Fun and Miss Finland just to name a few. Not too mention other champions like Schillaci, Naturalism, Chautauqua and Black Caviar. The Easter Sales will also be a good barometer to how the economy is recovering during the Covid period, bidding is expected to be strong. No overseas travel? Why not buy a premium thoroughbred at the premium sale.

Last year the average price at Easter was ($306k) and the median price ($250k) both down from 2019, but remember Covid struck and the Easter Sale was conducted on-line only. Here at TRL we encourage all owners to get to the sales and share the dream of finding that Slipper winner which the Inglis sales are famous for producing.

It will be a lot of fun…see you there.
