TRL WINNERS CONTINUE TO MOUNT-UP

Jan 27, 2023

Once again it’s More Runners, Winners & Thrills for TRL owners with Luna Rocks posting a sizzling win on Monday.

That now takes TRL’s tally to 22 Winners from 15 Runners to the track at a strike rate of an eye-watering 21%.

Congratulations to all owners across the three teams – Well Done!

Looking ahead to some upcoming TRL runners.

TRL UPCOMING RUNNERS :

  • The Sherpa, January 29 – Murwillumbah or Grafton January 31
  • Bellinger, February 5 – Sale
  • Cool Jakey, February 6 – Randwick Barrier Trial
  • The Big Goodbye, February 11 – Doomben
  • Team Captain, February 25, Lord Reims Hcp – Morphettville

Good luck to all Owners and now let’s check out the major chances of your TRL Trainers this Saturday.

MOODY HAS A PRINCESS

There’s no more in-form stable than Peter Moody’s and I reckon he can get us off to a great start with Princess Rhaenys in Race 1. She looked pretty good winning last start and jumping up to 2500m looks ideal.

BET: Princess Rhaenys – Win  (MV Race 1)

CIARON & EUSTACE TO STAY IN TOUCH

Lethal Thoughts looks to be coming along nicely leading up to a jump-out next week.

On Saturday, the stable has two good hopes at attractive odds.

Matron Bullwinkel is a $6.50 chance in Race 2 at the Valley, she had no luck last start but was good before that and can improve.

Stay In Touch makes appeal at $9 in Race 5, it’s fit and with John Allen in the saddle will be thereabouts.

BET: Martron Bullwinkel- Each Way (MV Race 2)

BET: Stay In Touch – Each Way (MV Race 5)

HAYES TO THE FORE

Ben and JD Hayes will be hoping for a change of luck with Luna Cat at the Valley on Saturday in Race 6. She had no luck when caught wide last start when she drew wide and was dragged back but hit the line well to finish third.

Monarch Of Egypt (Race 9) is at double-figure odds and barrier 14 is certainly a big obstacle to overcome. He meets Worsfold better at the weights and at $10 makes appeal.

BET: Luna Cat – Win (MV Race 6)

BET: Monarch of Egypt – Each Way (MV Race 9)

WATERHOUSE/BOTT BUSY WITH THE YOUNGSTERS

The current Golden Slipper favourite in King’s Gambit steps out in the Canonbury Stakes Race 2 but at $1.40 we’ll let it go around.

Gai and Adrian have Red Resistance in the Canonbury, which is race fit, winning its only start and looks pretty smart.

Perfect Proposal (Race 5) was second in the Gimcrack and is coming off two good trials.

BET: Red Resistance – Each Way (Rosehill Race 2)

BET: Perfect Proposal – Each Way (Rosehill Race 5)

GOLLAN STILL SMILING

Tony Gollan still hasn’t stopped smiling after winning the $2 million Magic Millions 2yo Classic with Skirt The Law.

He only has two runners at Sunshine Coast meeting on Saturday the best being Love Sensation in Race 4. At $2.70 is very tight in the market but is a winner at the track and Angela Jones takes the claim.

BET: Love Sensation – Win (Sunny Coast Race 4)

O’DEA/HOYSTED OVER THE RIDGE

The O’Dea/Hoysted stable has two good chances in the feature event of the meeting, the Caloundra Cup and I’m leaning towards Tumbler Ridge.

There looks to be pace in the race, with Tumbler Ridge to sit behind the speed and show his class late. He won his two starts before being sent for a spell.

BET: Tumbler Ridge  – Each Way (Sunny Coast Race 8)

MUNCE COUNTING ON FINSCEAL

Chris Munce is counting on Finsceal (Race 3) to make the trip to the Sunshine Coast worthwhile.

Finsceal is now $5.50 after opening at $9.50 and is a last-start winner at the track. He does get back in his races but has a powerful finish.

BET: Finsceal – Each Way  (Sunny Coast Race 3)

Good luck and good punting!

TRL WINNERS CONTINUE TO MOUNT-UP

Jan 27, 2023

Cool Jakey was the King of Warwick Farm  on Wednesday and NSW Tycoons owners would like to package the Metropolitan track and just take it wherever Cool Jakey goes after he kept his undefeated record intact.

It’s remarkable that ‘Jakey’, trained on track and stabled across the road with Joe Pride, is one of those athletes, albeit of the equine kind, who thrives on his home ground.

He won on debut at Warwick Farm way back in February of 2023 and the love affair hasn’t ended, Cool Jakey has now won 4 from 4 at ‘The Farm’ and there’s plenty more wins in store for your son of Pierro.

BOUNCE BACK FACTOR

As Tycoons were made aware of, there’s a theory in racing that when a horse suffers from cardiac arrhythmia, “you must back it next start” and they win.

And that was certainly the message after Cool Jakey suffered cardiac arrhythmia the previous start at Randwick, with Joe Pride telling Tycoons in the pre-race late mail, “Don’t worry about what happened last start, the horse is fine and he looks great,” how right Joe was with Cool Jakey leading all the way.

HIPPO FROM BARRIER TO BOX

Adam Hyeronimus was having his first sit on Cool Jakey and he rode him a treat. We joked before the race “just go to the front and improve your position” and that’s exactly what he did.

“He jumped well and found a nice rhythm straight away, he had a nice time so I let him slide early into it at the 600metres so we did go a bit early.

“He felt fantastic throughout the run and was doing it easily, so I did get a bit of a surprise how quickly he stopped.

“So maybe I did go too early, but in saying that, maybe seven furlongs is his upper limit. On that effort he’ll be winning again” Jockey Adam Hyeronimus said.

JOE DELIGHTED

“That was good guys” trainer Joe Pride said, with a big smile to a large contingent of NSW Tycoons on Cool Jakey returning to scale.

“Look it was nice to see him win on a track that wasn’t bottomless wet, it opens up a lot more opportunities for him.

“In saying that if there was a 1400m for him in a fortnight on a Good track I would probably be reluctant to start him. We need to nurse him through it and the next month – six weeks isn’t going to be easy because it’s carnival time.

WHATS NEXT – PACK YOUR BAGS

The Tycoons have been very patient with Cool Jakey and their patience has been rewarded. He is building a very nice career record which stands at only 13 starts for 5 wins and a minor placing and is now pushing the $200,000 in prize money.

‘Jakey’ has initially pulled up well, but we all know that he is a delicate soul and has to be treated with kindness and Joe is reluctant to push him too hard too quickly. Which is fair enough.

“We might even consider travelling him maybe to Melbourne or Brisbane for a wet track, we just need to look after him.

“He’s been a good horse for us, we will look after him and his best opportunities will come in the Winter,” Joe concluded.

Congratulations to all NSW Tycoons and winning connections.

Go you good thing!
